Corona continues to support many charities in Istanbul….

The refugee school in Beyoglu
The Womens Refuge

We continue to donate to charitable organisations on a monthly basis and are always open to suggestions of where you would like your hard-earned money to go in order to help those in need in Istanbul.

A number of our members are still making their regular visits to the above listed places to offer physical and emotional support. Their hard work and the work of our members in raising much needed charitable funds, is greatly appreciated.

Recent Corona Charitable Donations…..

550 YTL worth of pillows for the children’s leukemia ward at SSK hospital in Okmeydan.

Cardigans to 30 boys at FES (Family Educational Services).

454 YTL on leather belts and satchels for boys of the orphanage at Maslak.

Barbie Dolls and Action Men for the children at Okmeydani, the hospital.

150 YTL to the Little Sisters of the Poor to buy chickens for residents' dinners.

300mTL to the Little Sisters of the Poor towards their Christmas Bazaar - we have received a lovely thank-you letter from Mother Superior.

220mTL to the Refugee School to buy Christmas presents for the children - again a very nice thank-you letter.

Appeal to Corona Members

Charity Appeal for our 'crafty' members

Corona have received a request for help at the Little Sisters of the Poor. If anyone can spare a few hours of their time, a couple of times a month, to do some crafts with the elderly residents and help increase their dexterity, please contact us via our Corona email and we will pass on your kind offer to the home.

Charity IDEAS - Thank you!

The Corona Committee would like to thank the Corona members who kindly took the time to emails with suggestions for alternative Charities that we could support in the future. We are now following up on these ideas to identify how we might be able to help them by providing support via our fundraising activities. Watch this space!

The Corona Stall at the IWI Bazaar was a great success!!

We made and sold 175 chutneys, pickled onions, marmalades, mincemeat and lemon curd.

We made and sold 36 Christmas cakes and 39 Christmas Puddings.

We made a fantastic profit of YTL 2,100 for the IWI bazaar charities.

Our BIG THANKS to:

* DTN International Movers - for kindly providing a van to help us transport all our Corona produce to the Hilton Hotel for the Bazaar.

* All the Corona ladies who spent tireless hours preparing veggies and fruits, lining baking tins, slaving over hot stoves and all the rest of the work to produce our wonderful range of homemade produce for sale at the Bazaar.
